Sloe Gin Biography

The music of Sloe Gin is the work of James E. Snelling, a 26 year old Norfolk born multi-instrumentalist, composed over ten years while James played guitar, drums, bass and keyboards in numerous East Anglian bands.

The first collection of songs is gathered on the album "Never Completed, Only Abandoned". The title is taken from a quote by Star Wars creator George Lucas, who said that great film-makers never complete films, only abandon them, never truly satisfied. James feels similarly about his music. .

To bring his tunes to the world at large James has gathered together a small crack team of eminent musicians, currently in the final stages of rehearsal for local dates in late summer.

The female contingent of Sloe Gin The Live Act comprises of Caroline De Mille on bass and Leigh Davies on Keyboards, both classically trained, grade 8 musicians. Between them they have notched up performances at the Albert Hall, Snape Maltings, Notre Dame Cathedral, York Minster and the Chichester Festival to name but a few. In researching this biography it was discovered that they even managed to play the same concert (in the orchestra and choir respectively) five years before they actually met!

Completing the quartet is Andrew Wood on drums, who has collaborated with James on and off since the name Sloe Gin was first coined back in 1993.

The band will be playing in and around Norwich during the coming months, notably at Norwich Arts Centre and Fat Pauly’s, before heading for London around late autumn.
